This couple took on a ride to remember in celebration of their 10^th anniversary, hitting their 50,000km milestone

Forget the dozen roses, ditch the fancy dinner – this anniversary, we’re celebrating with the rumble of our Harley^® and the wind in our hair! Ten years of wedded motorcycle adventures, and our trusty steed is about to hit a big one: 50,000km of freedom on two wheels. The odometer ticked closer with each excited heartbeat, and the morning sun gleamed off the chrome like the promise of an epic ride. With leathers strapped on and smiles wider than a stretched saddlebag, we were ready to make this anniversary a two-wheeled adventure for the books.

We’re no strangers to the saddle – we clocked up our miles exploring the Middle East and have made many lasting memories along the way. Some of our favourite trips include journeying through Oman’s Musandam Governorate, venturing into the rugged beauty of the peninsula, exploring its fjords, pristine beaches and charming villages. Riding alongside our H.O.G.^® friends, we experienced the camaraderie and shared passion for adventure that makes motorcycling so special.

We also embarked on a dolphin cruise, witnessing the playful antic of these intelligent creatures as they danced alongside our boat. The experience was both exhilarating and heart-warming – a reminder of the beauty and wonder of the natural world.

Riding through the United Arab Emirates is also a favourite of ours. We’ve explored every corner of the country, from bustling cities to the serene deserts. One of our most memorable rides there took place during the Liwa Festival in Abu Dhabi (it’s a 1,000-mile ride), where we navigated the vast Liwa Desert, the largest desert in the UAE. The dunes, the starry nights and the sense of adventure made it an unforgettable experience.

These are just a few examples of the many adventures we’ve had in the past few years. Every ride has been a unique experience, filled with joy, excitement and the freedom that only comes with hitting the open road on a motorcycle. It was the perfect way to celebrate our personal milestone…

The open road stretched before us like a blank canvas, begging to be painted with the memories of our 10th anniversary adventure. We’d chosen a route that held a special place in our hearts – the scenic coastal path from Sharjah, winding its way through Fujairah and culminating in the charming coastal town of Kalba. Every twist and turn offered breath-taking views of the sea, a familiar yet ever-changing vista that mirrored the joy of celebrating a decade together. The wind whipped through our helmets, carrying laughter and conversation, punctuated by the rhythmic rumble of the Harley.

The miles ticked by in a happy blur, the scenery a kaleidoscope of memories intertwined with the thrill of the ride. Suddenly, a digital chime echoed from the dashboard – our Harley had hit 50,000km! We whooped with joy, adrenaline spiking as we pulled over into a scenic overlook, a breathtaking backdrop for this momentous occasion, and captured the moment on camera. 

Our first stop arrived sooner than expected, a delightful surprise nestled in the heart of Kalba: the Gardenia Cafè. This little gem had been a favourite breakfast spot on our early motorcycle adventures together. Pulling in, we reminisced about those first rides, the butterflies in our stomachs as we explored new roads, and the thrill of discovering hidden treasures like this café. The friendly staff greeted us like old friends, and their delicious breakfast fuelled us up for the rest of the journey. As we savoured our coffee, we couldn’t help but smile – some things, like good food, great company, and the open road, never get old.

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the highway, and we reluctantly turned back towards home. The miles back seemed shorter, our hearts brimming with the contentment of a perfect day. Reflecting on the journey, we realised it was more than just a celebration of kilometres, it was a testament to the enduring strength of our love.

Sharing the open road, the wind whipping through our hair, had become a cherished ritual, a way to reconnect and rediscover the joy of adventure together. The motorcycle, once a symbol of freedom for young hearts, had transformed into a symbol of our enduring partnership.

We emerged from this ride feeling even more grateful for each other. The shared challenges of the road, the unexpected detours, and the moments of pure joy – they all worked to solidify the bond we share. We know, that no matter what life throws our way, we will face it together, side by side, ready to conquer any highway that lies ahead.
